Taylors' OIC Camp 2011

As everyone knows, the first semester holiday has started. I came across with the OIC Camp....(Oh, I seeeee!) flyers when I first visited the campus with the school trip few weeks back. Yeah, it caught my attention when one of my friends passed me the flyers and I kept it just in case if i really want to join this camp. I browsed through the website page and decided to register for this camp. There were a few options to pick from. From fashions to science-based choices. Everything is interesting.

I picked Psychology 101. This is the only workshop which had caught my attention after all.

Registered myself at the general counter at 10am and headed to the Taylors' Lakeside Campus Gym Area. Yeah, the camp was held at Taylors' Lakeside Campus. It was so huge that one can actually get lost if walks alone and unfamiliar with the new place. Ice-breaking was the first activity we had on the day. We were given a piece of paper, we called it "HUMAN BINGO". Each boxes was filled up with interest/hobby. So, we had to walk around asking people to sign on that particular column if they practices the interest/hobby. This doesn't work out well as every of us was trying to persuade each another to sign on that column in order to hand in the paper in that limited time. It was fun approaching people, I learned to be more sociable to mix around with people whom I do not know them at the first sight.

Anyhow, the following activities was plain-awesome, fits in perfectly with the main theme of the camp-AWESOMENESS. Since there were too many participants which hit up to 400 students from north, south, east, west of the Klang Valley, we were separated into Group1 & Group2. Group1 headed to each respective workshops, whereas group2 started off with The Amazing Race. I was in the Group2. I wasn't looking forward to this game, because we need to race around the campus while going through 5 station games.  Surprisingly, it turned out amazing and yeah, AWESOME! My group name is "I Have No Idea?!" I was in a group where the people were mostly from PJ and Subang. I mixed around well. They were just too friendly to be friends, you know. I'll just skip off the station games session, but the games were fantastic and it requires team work.

Here comes my long-waited workshop of the day. Psychology 101. Yeah, you might be wondering why did I ever pick this workshop. Do you think I like mixing around with Psychos? Or perhaps I'm more on the emotional person? It simply caught my attention to deal with emotions stuff. So, I entered the classroom with the companion of one of my schoolmates. Now, the lecturer came in. He is a tiny young man who teaches Introduction in Psychology in SEGi College if I'm not mistaken.

The 3 major things which we focused on during the class was Sex, Love and Relationships. Its basically the 3 things which teenagers always encounter in their lives. All we talked about was related to the comparisons between the people in the olden days and in the modern era. So there I learned the 5 major personality traits. You can called it behaviors, emotions, characteristics and so on.

These are the Fives:
i) Extraversion- Its also the same as extroversion. Just take on the example. If a person calls you an extrovert, you definitely know that you're an outgoing person, a more sociable and being friendly with the surrounding.

ii) Neuroticism- Have you ever heard about a neurotic person? Neuroticism is a personality traits which a person always encounters the negative states about everything. He/she tends to feel nervous, depression, stubborn and so on about everything. He/she has low self-esteem every time.

iii) Conscientiousness- Its the traits of being conscientious, being responsible and reliable on everything they do.

iv) Openness to experience- Openness often involves active imagination, attentiveness to inner feelings, intellectual curiousity and so on. They would do anything they like, being a very open-minded person. For instance, when your friend invited you to go for bungee jumping, you would join them along without further hesitation.

v) Agreeableness- This is like the movie, "YESMAN". The tendency to agree or to be pleasant with anything fulfill their satisfactions and thats how they could be postive minded, willingly cooperate with others in anything they do.

So yeah, there you go. The 5 Big Personality Traits in psychology.

Next, we were asked to do a psychology test. Surprisingly, the lecturer said the results from us were the weirdest results he have gotten so far. Never once did he received such weird results. With the scale of 1-5, we have to rate the personality, physical appearance, wealth, age and the numbers of partners of our future spouse. The girls were normal, yet the lecturer said the guys were cheating on the results. Apparently, the guys in the class looked very much innocent. No Offence. :)

The talk was fabulous, you know. He taught the guys the ways to tackle girls. He spoke about his own experiences which some I think were quite true in some guys I've met. In the end of the lesson, he talked about the love theories in the relationships between a pair of couple. There are 2 basic types of love, The Passionate Love vs Compassionate Love. Let me tell you, compassionate love between the couples is far more enduring and long-term compared to passionate love. Check out more on Love Theories :)

Well, this only cover up a very tiny, small part of psychology. Yet, it was amazingly fascinating. The Amazing Race and this workshop were the 2 great activities of the day. A very good starting of my semester1 holiday.A big thank you for Taylors' for the "AWESOMENESS OHHHH I SEEEE CAMP!" :)

This is The Amazing Race group- "I Have No Idea?!". We won the best team of all. :)

Do you know why do guys are attracted to girls with curves?
The lecturer called them lame and boring answers. This is the scientific answers.
It is because.........
Women with big breasts can carry more milk and women with wider hips can bear the weight of a baby and more fertile.
